Overview
Characters can be created from the Editor or from the “Characters” tab after a project is loaded. First, let’s have a look at the characters overview.

Here are the various columns.
- The first column will have a diskette icon to indicate the character needs to be saved
- The name of the character (this includes structure styles such as “Scene” or “Chapter.”
- The importance of the role played
- An arbitrary group label that can be used to simplify menu structure once a large number of characters is created
- The color used in Word to identify the character
- The neural voice used to synthesize speech
- The accelerator key used to quickly assign characters to text block in the editor
- A summary of the voice modifiers used
- The effect to be used to the voice (ex: reverb for computer)
- The foleys to be used before, after or during the generated speech
- Delays to be used before and after the speech (mostly use to add pauses when starting a chapter)
- Text substitution . Example. If “1” in a Chapter style indicates chapter 1, then the Chapter style could have a “Chapter {0}” text substitution.
The Ribbon
The ribbon will be fully populated if a character is selected. The various options are pretty self-explanatory.

Create a New Character
This is prompt a dialog box allowing to configure the same information, but from anywhere in the application. Note. The same dialog will appear if you double-click on a character.

Setting an accelerator for a character
It can become cumbersome in the Editor to constantly go through menus to assign a often-used characters to dialog text blocks. For that purpose, it is possible to assign a combination key (only Alt-<X>) for a character. Select the entry you wish to assign and hit the designed Alt-<X> . Example, Paul being a main character, the combination Alt-P could be used to simplify text decoration.
